Biodiversity (the variety of all life forms) has been linked to multiple wellbeing benefits in people, including (among others) supporting mental wellbeing through decreases in stress and anxiety, reducing risk of disease spread and improved education and understanding on nature. However, urbanisation has led to an increased disconnect between people and biodiversity, reducing many urban residents’ accessibility to biodiversity and the wellbeing benefits it provides. While biodiversity hotspots do exist in cities, within remnant vegetation patches and other greenspaces, previous studies suggest that these spaces are unequally spatially distributed, and more likely to be located in wealth..
