The GFCF is the only organization focused solely on growing community philanthropy globally as a central pillar of people-led development. We do this in several ways:
Our grants are awarded through a combination of proactive invitations to organizations to apply and – when capacity and resources allow – through an open competitive process. All grants are made in accordance with our strategic objectives and funding decisions are approved by our board.
Grants are made through a two-stage approach: firstly, an initial concept note is submitted and, if this satisfies our criteria, applicants are invited to submit a longer online application. Concept notes may be submitted in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. Unless prior agreement has been made, we normally only accept final applications in English.
Before submitting a concept note, please first consult our guidelines on who can apply and examples of grantee partner organizations.
