The Africa Climate Collaborative at University of Ghana is offering fully funded fellowships to outstanding young African scholars between the ages of 18 to 35 years at the Master’s, PhD, and Postdoctoral levels. In line with its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Africa Climate Collaborative will prioritise applications from women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from displaced backgrounds.
The Africa Climate Collaborative at University of Ghana is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of African scholars and researchers committed to addressing climate resilience and sustainability challenges. The initiative provides a platform for young, ambitious African scholars to pursue advanced studies and conduct impactful, interdisciplinary research within an environment that promotes leadership, innovation, and global collaboration.
Supports outstanding candidates seeking to pursue any regular Master’s (MA/MSc/MPhil) degree at the University of Ghana with a research focus on climate resilience and sustainability related fields. Provides mentorship, research funding, entrepreneurship and leadership development opportunities.
Supports exceptional candidates seeking to advance their knowledge and research capabilities at the doctoral level at the University of Ghana. Fellows will undertake innovative, high-quality research that contributes to sustainable solutions for climate-related challenges.
Aimed at early-career researchers looking to establish independent research careers in climate resilience and sustainability. Offers an opportunity for fellows to lead innovative research projects at the University of Ghana while collaborating with international experts.
The Africa Climate Collaborative Fellowship focuses on the following thematic and priority research areas. Fellows are encouraged to engage in innovative research and related activities that advance climate resilience and sustainability:
Research on sustainable energy solutions including solar, wind, and other renewable technologies for African contexts.
Climate-smart agricultural practices, food security, and sustainable farming methods adapted to changing climates.
Sustainable urban development, green infrastructure, and climate-resilient city planning.
Policy frameworks, climate governance mechanisms, and institutional responses to climate change
Health impacts of climate change, disease patterns, and health system resilience.
Multi-level governance integrating traditional and indigenous knowledge in climate adaptation
Understanding and addressing climate vulnerabilities in communities and social systems.
