Applications are now open for the Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA) Small Grants Programme 2026–2027, which supports organizations working at the intersection of gender equality, environmental sustainability, climate action, and data-driven research.
The grant programme aims to strengthen the ability of local and community-based organizations—especially those in the Global South—to generate, analyze, and use gender-environment data to support more inclusive climate policies, adaptation strategies, and environmental decision-making.
About the GEDA Small Grants Programme
The Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA) is a global initiative focused on improving the availability, accessibility, and use of data linking gender equality and environmental challenges.
Through the Small Grants Programme, GEDA supports organizations that develop evidence-based approaches to understanding how climate change and environmental issues affect different groups, particularly women, marginalized communities, and vulnerable populations.
The programme supports projects that:
- Improve the collection and use of gender-environment data.
- Strengthen climate adaptation through inclusive research.
- Promote community-led and participatory approaches.
- Address knowledge gaps in climate and environmental decision-making.
- Support gender-responsive policies and programmes.
- Amplify the voices of communities most affected by climate change.
Grant Funding Available
Selected organizations will receive:
💵 USD $10,000 – $15,000 per grant
The 2026–2027 funding cycle will support at least eight organizations working on innovative projects related to gender, environment, and climate data.
Projects will have an implementation period of up to one year, with activities expected to conclude by October 2027.

Projects should contribute to one or more of the following areas:

- Understanding climate risks affecting communities.
- Developing inclusive adaptation strategies.
- Supporting vulnerable groups in climate resilience planning.
👩🏾🤝👩🏽 Advancing Gender-Responsive Environmental Action
Initiatives may explore:
- Women’s participation in environmental decision-making.
- Gender impacts of climate change.
- Inclusive approaches to conservation and sustainability.
🏘️ Supporting Local Communities
GEDA prioritizes projects that:
- Centre community knowledge and experiences.
- Use participatory research methods.
- Support locally led climate solutions.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:
- Community-based organizations
- Civil society organizations
- NGOs
- Research organizations
- Institutions working on gender, environment, climate, or data issues
Priority will be given to:
- Organizations based in the Global South.
- Locally led initiatives.
- Feminist and community-based organizations.
- Projects implemented at local or national levels.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must generally:
- Be a member of GEDA, a GEDA Core Partner, or part of the Data Advisory Group.
- Work on issues related to gender and environment data.
- Demonstrate capacity to implement a community-focused project.
Organizations in the Indo-Pacific that are not currently GEDA members may also apply and will be invited to join if selected.
